Three Darien Police Officers Promoted

The Darien Police Commission and Police Chief Ray Osborne have announced the promotions of three officers on Wednesday, May 29.

Nick Aranzullo, who started with the department in 2005, was promoted to Lieutenant. In 2009, Lt. Aranzullo assisted with the coordination of the K-9 program and formed the department’s first K-9 unit with canine partner “Zulu.”

Lt. Aranzullo also served in the Detective Bureau, receiving a promotion to the rank of Sergeant in 2017.

Derek Mulcahy, who started with the department in 2004, received a promotion to the rank of Sergeant. Sgt. Mulcahy became a member of the department’s Marine Division and has served as its commander for the past several years. He was recently assigned to the Traffic Division and is a member of the Accident Investigation Team.

Daniel Skoumbros, who started with the department in 2004, was promoted to Sergeant. He is a member of the Crisis Intervention Team and has served as a member of the Marine Division for several years. Sgt. Skoumbros has also served as the School Liaison Officer to Ox Ride School since the program’s inception and is a Certified Telecommunications Officer.

The promotions will officially take effect on Sunday, June 2. The date for the officers’ promotional ceremony will be announced in the near future.
